In 2021 Nick Budd, an award winning director, approached me to ask for assistance for his next film. This film was being entered for the 48 Hour film competition, where filmmakers have around 48 hours to write, produce, shoot and edit their short films ready for broadcast. I said 'yes' and started getting ready to play my part.

I had approximately 24 hours, to take the recorded production audio, clean it up, mix it and add some additional sound effects to create atmosphere and tension. I started with cleaning up the dialogue, as there was a lot of background noise which needed to be removed. Next, I started mixing all the materials together and adding reverb to create the atmosphere of a cold, empty place. Finally, I starting adding additional sounds, such as a transitional sound effect from one scene to the other, which worked quite well if I say so myself.

Rubinov wonn the audience choice awards for best sound design, which has made me quite pleased. It currently is only on Vimeo, and can only be watched if you have a Vimeo account. It will soon be doing the festival circuit, and any changes will be updated on this site.
