I am an experienced, technically skilled audio engineer, based in the East Midlands. My services deliver professional, modern, and perfect sound. Clientele include: various artists & musicians, award winning filmmakers, composers, audiobook publishers, and any who require an excellent set of ears!

Start of Story

IN THE BEGINNING...

Born to a creative family, I was introduced to music at an early age via relatives being in folk and rock bands, where I would help mix the band's sound. This love of music, then led to playing the guitar, classical at first then evolving into electric. Around the same time, I discovered YouTube and was taken away with making short films. I started creating my own, by using a small digital camera and an early version of editing to create small films involving Lego features. In my teen years I continued my exploration into Music & Movie Making, by creating short films with fellow classmates, and playing Guitar in my band and performances. I would also sneak into the Music Room during lunch breaks to record track demo’s using an early version of audio software, 2 Mic’s and an Interface.

SCHOOLS OUT...

I started learning at Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies, where I gravitated more towards music, recording bands for Nottingham’s Indie scene. I was enticed by the production process from writing and composing a song, to recording and tracking it down, then finally mixing and mastering it ready for streaming services and CD’s.

Because of this I chose to continue my education into Audio, and enrolled onto Nottingham Trent University’s “Audio & Music Technology” course. Here I branched out, working as a producer with solo artists and composing music for short films. Also I started working outside of education as a freelance audio engineer, recording and mixing music for award winning films, mixing/mastering artist’s music and taking any clientele I could get.

After 4 years of studying in Nottingham, I decided to study one final year at SAE University in Oxford. Here I got more engaged in the filmmaking process, after being asked to help as a recordist and re-recording mixer on several student films. This inspired me to start working in the post side of film audio, and I started my first role as a Sound Mixer on “Designation: Limbo.” Although I would often work with film stuff, my focus was on my dissertation in analogue vs. digital versions of the same gear. During this, I needed to use recording material, so instead of using stock online, I had recorded & mixed an EP from Soul Funk band called “The Unblessed.” Thanks to this, I got a 2:1 on my BSc dissertation and was finally released from education, unto the world as a audio engineer.

THE NEAR FUTURE...

After completing 5 years of Post-16 education, I started working for Elysium Recording Studios in Leicester. My role was recording engineer, which was great for me as I would be setting up to get the best sound out of the artist, or troubleshooting the next technical puzzle of the day. After a year, I left and decided to go freelance, as I wanted to tackle new and exciting things.

Since then, I have worked on multiple films as a Sound Designer/Mixer, which have won awards and are distributed on commercial streaming sites. I also have kept up in the music department, recording, mixing and mastering for bands of all kinds, up and down the country. As a global pandemic hit, I started looking at working in other forms of audio, such as Podcasts or Audiobooks, editing and mixing for a professional audiobook publisher based in the East Midlands. I also got my hands stuck into more modern forms of content, such as mixing and editing for YouTube and Twitch Videos.

Right now, I work part time at a creative technologies college and am looking for more clients to work with, always pushing forward. Looking for a new project, that’s challenging, to get my teeth into!
